Gregory and Thomas Quandt -
The Quandts designed their indoor and outdoor spaces to evoke a sense of comfort and relaxation. The garden uses a structured format, allowing them to prioritize color and texture to create visual impact from any vantage point within the house. Given the limited time to enjoy outdoors, they maximize their entertaining areas. They incorporate flowering hydrangeas, lavender, roses, and a vegetable garden to utilize the yard to its fullest.

Susan Lang and Bill McDowell -
Susan and Bill have 3 gardens: Susan’s garden has raised beds with vegetables and a cut flower garden with a sitting deck. The patio garden has iris, lilies, hostas, ferns, astilbes, columbine, clematis, trumpet and wisteria vines. The shaded path garden starts with tall grasses, peonies and daisies then moves to shade plants and leads to a contemporary landscape sculpture created by local artist, Bud Skupniewitz.

You’ll find more than 50 pots of annuals! Many flowers and plants are chosen to attract hummingbirds and butterflies, while adding height, color, and blooms all season. The mix of sun and shade allows for a wide variety of plants, including shade-loving hostas and hydrangeas in sunnier areas. Enjoy your walk through and don’t forget to stop and smell the roses—if they’re in bloom!

Wendy Butler Berns -
The Berns moved to their home 5 years ago, transplanting many perennials from their lake home of 30 years. Wendy uses low maintenance perennials that bloom throughout the season; colorful shrubs fill empty spaces. Gardens are surrounded by grass, hardscape and a view of farmland. A quilter for over 30 years, Wendy traveled widely teaching the art of quilting, focusing on pictorial art quilts inspired by nature. Weather permitting, you may be treated to Wendy’s quilts displayed in the gardens.

Laurie and Jon Otto -
Spring brings colorful daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths. The walkway to the backyard includes plants from Laurie's mother and grandmother. The backyard is a serene sanctuary with an inground pool surrounded by indigo ceramic pots of colorful annuals. Many more pots, including a large black cauldron from the family's farming days, are filled with annuals. The backyard deck features a pergola with 5 giant mandevillas. On the east are butterfly bushes, ornamental grass, and coneflowers; to the west is a line of mammoth sunflowers, a tribute to Laurie’s late father. A small vegetable garden is south of the house.
