Page Scholarship

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library announces The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library Page Scholarship ProgramUnder the Program, one (1) $1000 scholarship will be awarded. To be eligible for the Page Scholarship a minimum of one-year employment as a page at the L.D. Fargo Public Library: from date of hire till last day of employment is required. Only qualified applicants will be considered with one scholarship per year to be awarded. A Page Scholarship will not be awarded if there is no qualified applicant.

Annual Scholarship

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library announces The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library Annual Scholarship. Under this program one (1) $1500 scholarship will be awarded. To be eligible for the Annual Scholarship applicant must be a graduating student from either of Lake Mills High Schools, currently reside in Jefferson County, and must have achieved a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The student may attend any accredited two- or four-year college or university or technical school within the United States. While not limited to, special consideration will be given to a student planning a career which will promote reading at an early age, such as day care, kindergarten or elementary teaching.

2024 Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the L.D, Fargo Public Library 2024 Scholarship for $1500 was awarded recently
to Carliann Hepp, a Lake Mills High School graduate. Hepp will be continuing her education
this fall at Madison College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in
elementary education. She is the daughter of Monica and Jeremy Hepp.
This scholarship is open to seniors of Lake Mills High School and Lakeside Lutheran High School , residing
in Jefferson County.

2023 Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library, awarded a $1,500 scholarship to Carlee Zimmermann, a Lakeside Lutheran senior, at the May 10, 2023 Academic Awards Night at the school. Zimmermann will continue her education at UW-Stevens Point and is leaning toward a career in natural resources. She is the daughter of Brian and Jennifer Zimmermann of Jefferson.














2022 Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library 2022 Annual Scholarship was awarded to Ava Belling, a Lake Mills High School graduate. Belling will be continuing her education this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in communication sciences and disorders. She wants to work with children of all abilities and become a speech pathologist. She is the daughter of Christina Schopf.


2021 Scholarship Winner

Bronwyn Bond was awarded the Friends of the Library scholarship for 2021. Ms. Bond will receive $1,000 to continue her education at University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse to major in English. Bronwyn is the daughter of Stanley Bond and Cathy Daly.


2020 Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library awarded a $1000 scholarship to Alexis Flick, a Lake Mills High School senior of the Class of 2020. Alexis will be continuing her education this fall at Columbia State Community College, Columbia, TN. She has chosen to major in education with a focus on English because of her love for it and working with children. Alexis is the daughter of Dennis and Sandra Flick.


2019 Scholarship Winner

Ellie Laws is the recipient of the 2019 Friends of the Library scholarship. Ms. Laws was awarded $1,000 to continue her education. Laws is enrolled at Brigham Young University to major in elementary education.


2018 Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library recently presented a $1000 scholarship to a Lake Mills High School senior. Kathleen O’Hearn, Friends’ scholarship chairman, presened the scholarship to recent graduate Katherine Hoggatt. Hoggatt will continue her education at the UW-Madison Mead Witter School of Music this fall, majoring in Choral Music. She is the daughter of Mark and Patty Hoggatt, Lake Mills.


2017 Scholarship Winner

This year the Friends of the L.D.Fargo Public Library Scholarship for $1000 was awarded to Alexis Schultz. a Lake Mills High School graduate. An important part of each student’s application is the personal statement. Alexis tells in her statement that from early on she remembers coming to the library. Getting her own card was so exciting. Books and learning have been important to her. Her interest in agriculture is evident in her classes, activities, and participation in groups such as 4-H and FFA. Alexis will be continuing her education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall. She will major in agronomy hoping to eventually study plant breeding. She is the daughter of Scott Schultz and Nancy Graff Schultz.


2016 Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Chase Scheel who was chosen by the Friends of the Library to receive the 2016 Scholarship award. Chase will graduate from Lake Mills High School this May and will enroll at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI in the U.P. Chase plans to study Mechanical Engineering.


2015 Scholarship Winner

The Friends of the L.D. Fargo Library presented their $500 scholarship to 2015 Lake Mills High School senior, Megan Tickner. Megan will continue her education at the UW-Whitewater, majoring in elementary education. She is the daughter of Michele Heiden, Watertown, and Kevin Tickner, Lake Mills. The scholarship is offered to seniors at both high schools in Lake Mills as long as they are living within Jefferson County. This is the fourth year that the Friends have given a scholarship.


2014 Scholarship Winner

The first annual scholarship awarded by the Friends of the L.D. Fargo Public Library, received by Emily Hoggatt.
